Evenings and Weekends

We will endeavour to answer calls as quickly as possible but inevitably, as with all large organisations, there will be busy times when waiting will be necessary. The telephone system will stack the calls in a queue and provide updates as to how many people are in front of you. These queues will be specific for the desk you dialled directly or the choice you made from the menu.
Improvements to our appointments system
In an attempt to make it easier for you to make appointments we are extending our hours of availability from 1st July 2008. In addition we are restructuring our appointments and aim to have one available within 48 hours (2 working days) to offer you.Click here for more details
About the practice
The surgery has thirteen GP principal doctors and two assistants, (seven male & six female) working within two closely linked practices.
The Honiton Group of Doctors has a combined list size of approximately 16,500 patients. The doctors are fully registered to provide general medical services, child development screening, antenatal and postnatal care, family planning and the management of chronic diseases.
The surgery services Honiton town and the surrounding villages of Gittisham, Alfington, Farway, Northleigh, Widworthy, Offwell, Wilmington, Cotleigh, Monkton, Rawridge, Upottery, Luppitt, Wick, Shelvin, Combe Raleigh, Awliscombe, Payhembury, Feniton and Buckerell (A detailed map is available at the surgery reception)
We have a strong primary healthcare team and we also work closely with other agencies. We are a research practice, accredited by The Royal College of General Practitioners. We also take part in the teaching of medical students from the Peninsula Medical School.
Work begins on the surgery extension
Preliminary work to clear the ground ready to build a significant extension to the surgery began on Thursday 22nd November 2007. It is anticipated that the whole project will be completed by February 2009. There will be considerable disruption to our usual ways of working as existing rooms are taken out of use to enable the building work to take place. We ask that you bear with us during this time. We will endeavour to keep our service running as smoothly as possible. Some doctors will be working in rooms in the outpatients area at Honiton Hospital - you might be asked to go to the hospital rather than the surgery for some of your appointments.
Once finished there will be a much needed spacious waiting room which will also be much lighter as a result of having a central light well. More consulting rooms and procedures rooms will be provided. The pharmacy will also be relocated to a larger area within the extension. The doctors and all the people who work at the surgery are looking forward to having more space. The building will be 'turned around' with the main entrance on the hospital side with access through the hospital grounds. The current building will be refurbished as part of the project.
